Why Choose Online School?

  • Why Should I Choose Online School?

Students and families opt for online schooling over traditional education for a variety of compelling reasons. These include:

    • Better communication
    • Personalized learning programs
    • Accessibility
    • Students can work at their own pace
    • Safer school environment
  • Do Colleges and Universities Accept Online High School Degrees?

Online high school education offers numerous advantages, and many colleges and universities widely recognize and accept degrees earned through reputable online programs such as Founders Classical Academy Online.

  • How is this different from remote instruction during the pandemic?

Unlike emergency remote learning during the pandemic, iSchool Virtual Academy's courses are intentionally designed for fully online instruction. Our program provides structured, high-quality coursework, interactive digital tools, and support from certified Arkansas teachers.

Technology & Resources

  • What are the technology requirements?

Students must have access to a laptop or Chromebook, internet access, and we also suggest a set of earbuds or headphones. If there is difficulty meeting this requirement, students can check out a Chromebook. There is a fee for this, the amount depends on whether a family qualifies for free or reduced lunch.

  • What if I need help with technology?

When students are experiencing technical difficulties with the Learning Management System or Student Information System, they can email support@bluexvirtual.com for assistance during normal business hours.

  • What skills or attributes do I need to be successful in the courses?

Students who are successful in online learning are:

    • Independent learners
    • Self-motivated
    • Open to suggestions and recommendations from their instructional team and parents
    • Comfortable asking for help
    • Receptive and open to feedback
    • Willing and able to complete all of the work and assessments in the courses regularly to meet attendance requirements
    • Able to meet deadlines

Instruction & Support

  • Are there teachers or is the computer teaching my child?

Each student is supported by a highly qualified instructional team. The instructional team consists of one Learning Mentor per student, between one to four Learning Facilitators per student, and a team of Managing Instructors.  This collaborative team ensures that every student receives the support they need to be successful.

  • What is a Learning Mentor?

A Learning Mentor is a coach, of sorts. This individual works with students to develop individual goals and coaches them to success. They monitor student progress and inform the instructional team of any events that are hindering progress. The Learning Mentor is the first point of contact for parents and students - they can connect to the right people to answer your questions.

  • What is a Learning Facilitator?

Learning Facilitators are highly competent in the subject area(s) in which they work. These individuals are available to provide scheduled, 1:1 tutoring sessions. Additionally, Facilitators have standing group tutorial times that students can drop into when needed. Facilitators are much like the teachers in a traditional classroom - providing content support, grading, and interventions.

  • What is a Managing Instructor?

A Managing Instructor is a certified teacher in the content area for which they are responsible. They have a deep understanding of the curriculum and best practices for online teaching and learning. They have customized the experience in the digital curriculum to include engaging and meaningful activities to support student learning. They are responsible for developing the intervention plans, along with Facilitators, for the students who fall behind or do not achieve mastery.

  • Are there tutors available if I need help?

Yes. Learning Facilitators provide scheduled 1:1 and small group tutoring sessions. Students can book a session or join a live tutorial as needed.

Enrollment & Costs

  • How much does this cost?

iSchool Virtual Academy of Ohio is a tuition-free public charter school. There is no cost to families.

  • What are my options if virtual learning isn’t the right fit for my child?

All student records and transcripts are maintained, so students can transition back to a traditional school at any time. Families may also consider enrolling in one of ResponsiveEd Ohio's brick-and-mortar campuses.

Attendance & Testing

  • What is the attendance requirement for the virtual campus?

Students are expected to log in to complete work each day AND to make adequate weekly progress as determined by their individual goals. Our attendance team monitors both the logins to the courses and a student’s progress through the course to determine whether a student is present. It is important to keep on track in all courses to be considered present.

  • Will I have to attend in person to take the state-required tests for my grade/subject?

Yes. Our testing team will notify you of when and where you will need to show up to take your state-required test(s). It is important for you to attend, and we will do our best to provide a location that is convenient for you. While you are at the location, you will be required to behave in a manner that agrees with the campus handbook and all school policies for dress code and behavior.

  • As a parent, will I be able to observe my student’s courses?

Upon registration, parents are provided with a login that allows them to see any work being assigned to or completed by their student(s). They will not be able to participate in the course or see other students to remain Federal Educational Records Privacy Act (FERPA) compliant.
